A Moving Image - Exclusive clip from Shola Amoo's debut film about the gentrification of Brixton
The film premiered at the London Film Festival
Having premiered at London Film Festival last year to rapturous applause from critics, A Moving Image is finally reaching cinemas across the country.
Shola Amoo directorial debut blends both real and fictional scenes to create a moving docu-drama about the gentrification of Brixton, one of London most bustling districts.
The Independent is exclusively debuting the above clip, featuring one of Brixton’s residents who explains how the ongoing changes are affecting her life.
The official synopses for the film reads: “Tanya Fear (Kick-Ass 2) stars as Nina, a young artist, who returns to her community after a long absence, and soon questions whether she is part of the problem of gentrification that she witnesses around her.
“As she struggles with her own complicity, she embarks on a mission to create a piece of art that can bring her community together. The film follows her journey, and fact and fiction merge as the lives of real Brixton residents affected by gentrification are brought into focus.”
A Moving Image opens on April 28 at exclusively at The Ritzy in Brixton, before playing wider on May 5.
