A Quiet Place- trailer

A fresh concept can go a long way in horror.

Which is what makes A Quiet Place so intriguing within this year's genre offerings. Actor and director John Krasinski first came across a spec script penned by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, attracted to its ideas of parents protecting their children by any means possible.

A theme which held extra weight considering the fact Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt had had their second child at the time; Blunt, then, even encouraged him to direct, with pair eventually taking the lead roles.

Though the truth of A Quiet Place's universe is the key to its mystery, and so withheld from our knowledge, we do know that Krasinski and Blunt play parents who have been forced to hide their family in an abandoned farm.

The world has been consumed by vicious, supernatural beings who are attracted to sound. Even despite their seclusion, the family must now try to live in total silence, communicating only by sign language.
