Al Gore's climate change film An Inconvenient Truth gets a sequel
The film will premiere at Sundance in 2017
Al Gore has announced a 'spiritual' follow-up to Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth
The sequel, which will once again follow the former vice-president as he raises awareness of the threat of climate change, is set to debut at the Sundance film festival in January 2017
In a statement, Gore said: “Now more than ever we must rededicate ourselves to solving the climate crisis. But we have reason to be hopeful; the solutions to the crisis are at hand.”
There have been rumours of a follow-up since 2014 but only now has its existence been confirmed. It'll premiere as part of the festival's The New Climate section. Whether it can emulate the awards success of An Inconvenient Truth - which also debuted at Sundance in 2006 - remains to be seen.
The sequel is expected to be released in cinemas in 2017.
Paramount's CEO Brad Grey said: “Al’s tireless efforts to bring about change continues to inspire all of us as we fight for the health of our world for future generations.”
