Aquaman: Marvel boss Kevin Feige shares verdict on DC blockbuster starring Jason Momoa
He denied any rumours of a rivalry between studios
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has shared his verdict on DC blockbuster Aquaman.
The James Wan-directed film, starring Jason Momoa in the lead role, has become the most successful film in DC Extended Universe history, surpassing profits made by Batman v Superman and Wonder Woman.
Feige – overseer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – went to see the film, and eradicated any suspicion that he views DC as rivals.
“I went to see Aquaman last night and I really, really enjoyed it,” Feige told MTV on the Golden Globes red carpet.
He also touched upon the news that James Gunn, who was controversially fired as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 last year, will now contribute to the screenplay of DC’s Suicide Squad sequel.
“I don’t see a rivalry,” he said. “I see cool films being made and one thing you know about James Gunn, he makes cool films.”
Aquaman director Wan recently criticised the Academy of Motion Arts for not shortlisting his film for the category of Best Visual Effects. He branded its decision a “f***ing disgrace”.
