Armie Hammer quits Twitter after Buzzfeed article about his career

'Your chronology is spot on but your perspective is bitter AF'

Armie Hammer has quit Twitter after Buzzfeed published an article dissecting the Call Me by Your Name actor’s career.

Titled 'Ten Long Years Of Trying To Make Armie Hammer Happen', the essay questions whether being a white male afforded him opportunities other actors would not have had.

Writer Anne Helen Petersen stipulates in the piece: “Is Hammer truly a unique star who’s finally finding his niche — or simply a beautiful, pedigreed white man who’s been allowed, in a way that few others in Hollywood have, endless attempts to discover it?”

The piece points out how, although making headway after playing twins in The Social Network, Hammer’s followups — The Lone Ranger, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Birth of a Nation — were unable to capitalise on the moment yet Hollywood kept bringing him back.

Hammer quickly responded to the piece on Twitter, writing: “Your chronology is spot on but your perspective is bitter [as f**k]. Maybe I’m just a guy who loves his job and refuses to do anything but what he loves to do…?”

Since the response was posted on the social media platform, Hammer has quit the service. Earlier this year, the actor stopped using the account out of embarrassment after a clip of him dancing in Call Me By Your Name went viral.

Hammer’s appearance in the movie has earnt him Oscar buzz and a new-found fanbase, hence the Buzzfeed article.
