Sigourney Weaver is returning in Avatar 2 and there’s now a photo to prove it.

The star will return to the world of Pandora in all four of James Cameron’s sequels, despite the fact her character Dr Grace Augustine died in the 2009 original.

Just over 10 years later, fans can finally glimpse Weaver on the set of the film alongside co-star Joel David Moore and producer Jon Landau.

It’s worth noting that the photo, shared by Avatar’s official Twitter page as well as Weaver herself, was taken a while ago considering we’re in the middle of a pandemic.

The photo’s caption reads: “From the set of the Avatar sequels: Producer Jon Landau, Sigourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore revisited the Site 26 Shack to shoot scenes for the new films.”

Earlier this year, Cameron finally released a look at the world of Pandora that’ll be seen in his many sequels.

Meanwhile, Weaver’s co-star Stephen Lang stated he “expected” Avatar 2 to surpass Avengers: Endgame as the highest-grossing film of all time.

This is a bold prediction considering the film’s director has even expressed his worry that the world is no longer interested in the universe of Pandora.

The director, who has been hard at work on the follow-up to his 2009 blockbuster for several years now, revealed he was relieved to see Endgame make so much money as it’s “demonstrable proof that people will still go to movie theatres”.

Cameron previously revealed why it has taken him so long to begin shooting the sequels, blaming underwater motion-capture technology – something he claims has “never been done before”.

The Avatar sequels wil reunite Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana alongside new cast members Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Jermaine Clement, Michelle Yeoh and Edie Falco.

Avatar 2 is scheduled for release in cinemas on 17 December 2021.
