Captain Marvel Official Trailer

Captain Marvel star Samuel L Jackson has hinted at how the superhero could be key to saving the day in Avengers: Endgame.

The actor told E! News: “She’s pretty much the strongest character in terms of someone with powers that are able to do things in the Marvel Universe, so for Carol Danvers to be that person—and for Brie to become that person—it’s gonna be a dynamite thing.”

“I mean, they’re up against some really, really tough odds right now we saw throughout Infinity War. So now we know we need something that’s as powerful as Thanos. And at some point, we’ll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she’s capable of.”

Most crucially, he teased: “She’s one of the few people in the Marvel Universe that can time travel.”

Several photographs from the set of Endgame from hinted that scenes from the sequel may take place in the past, with actor Chris Evans having been spotted in his original Captain America suit from 2012’s Avengers.

Could Thanos only be defeated if Captain Marvel was able to turn back time and allow the Avengers another shot at defeating the villain and preventing him from collecting all six Infinity Stones?

Captain Marvel‘s executive producer Jonathan Schwartz said: “It really is a self-contained story and it will tell you everything about that character who shows up in Avengers 4. It will lead very organically into what you saw at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and it will lead very organically into what you will see in Avengers 4.”

Captain Marvel will be released in UK cinemas 8 March, while Avengers: Endgame will be released 26 April.
