Avengers: Endgame: Viewers divided over whether they can hear 'whisper' in new clip
Key moment happens during a face-off between Captain Marvel and Thor
Marvel fans have been left divided over a mysterious ”whisper” in a new clip from the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame – which only some people are able to hear.
The sequence occurs around the 48th second of a one-minute clip from the blockbuster unveiled on Monday.
In that moment, the Avengers are discussing strategies to restore order in the universe after Thanos’s snaps wiped out half the galaxy.
Captain Marvel suggests a plan and is met with doubt from some of her fellow superheroes, at which point Thor gets up and walks towards her.
As Thor and Captain Marvel size each other up, some can hear what sounds like a voice whispering: “I have telepathy.”
Baffled viewers shared the discovery on social media, detailing their theories as to who could be responsible for the whisper: does Captain Marvel have telepathic powers? Or is another superhero somehow communicating with Thor?
Others, however, are dubious that the whisper even exists, and believe it is simply the sound of Thor’s breath.
“The ‘I have telepathy’ whisper in the latest #AvengersEndgame clip makes me wanna see it even more,” one person wrote.
“The Avengers: Endgame clip that was released yesterday while Thor and Captain Marvel were conversing with each other there was a super subtle whisper ‘I have telepathy’ from God knows who and I NEED TO KNOW WHO SAID THAT,” another viewer tweeted.
Some on Reddit remained unconvinced, insisting there was no actual whisper to hear – a situation reminiscent of the great “Yanny” versus “Laurel” debate, in which some people could only hear the former while others could make out the latter.
