Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released as one film, Henry Cavill confirms

Rumours had been sparked that the blockbuster would hit cinemas in two parts

Henry Cavill is the latest Brit actor to nab a big US superhero role (Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Legendary Pictures Funding, LLC )

In the franchise-driven world of blockbusters, many will be expecting upcoming superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to be the first of at least two parts.

But lead star Henry Cavill, who plays Superman, has debunked such rumours, confirming that Zack Snyder’s film will be released alone.

Speculation was sparked after a picture listing two Batman V Superman films as Dawn of Justice and follow-up Enter the Knight was posted online. Cavill told Variety that this news was false.

Speaking at the Bafta tea in Beverly Hills last weekend, the British actor joked that he was not injured in any fight scenes as he is “the Man of Steel”.

Cavill stars alongside Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck as Batman in the movie. He describes Affleck’s performance as “great”, despite the Gone Girl star receiving a backlash against his casting in 2013.

Snyder responded to the outrage in an effort to reassure comic book fans, saying: “I understand the canon, I’m not crazy. I know what these characters need from a mythological standpoint.”

Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons also feature in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which reaches UK cinemas on 25 March 2016.
