Ben Stiller took LCD outside the Museum of Natural History

It was the actor’s only experiment with the hallucinogenic drug

Ben Stiller has revealed his first and only experiment with LSD occurred outside the Museum of Natural History in New York City.

The actor divulged the anecdote when he spoke as part of a Night at the Museum reunion yesterday (11 September) for the news show Stars in the House.

The 54-year-old said, “The first and last time I took LSD was right outside the Museum of Natural History” the night before Thanksgiving.

The Zoolander star appeared alongside director Shawn Levy and co-stars Own Wilson, Carla Gugino, Hank Azaria and British actor Steve Coogan.

“I grew up on 84th and Riverside so that museum was part of my life growing up,” he recalled.

Stiller’s father, acclaimed actor Jerry Stiller died in May this year

The actor starred in the 2006 family film Night at the Museum, which was incidentally filmed at the Upper West Side location of Stiller’s newly-revealed tidbit.  He reprised his role as the museum’s night-shift security guard Larry Daley in its two sequels in 2009 and 2014. 

Stiller has previously spoken about his past with hallucinogenic drugs on the Netflix documentary Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics.

Speaking on the documentary, the actor explained how the floating balloons featured as part of the Thanksgiving Day Parade made for a strange experience on the drug.
