Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler, describes what Afrofuturism means to him

Michael B. Jordan aka Erik Killmonger is going from Marvel's fictional Black Panther to World War II's real ones.

The actor is on board to produce and potentially star in The Liberators, according to Variety, an action-drama about the 761st Tank Battalion, a regiment made up mostly of African-American soldiers whose efficiency and heroism ultimately led to the desegregation of US armed forces.

Madison Turner penned the spec script, which was snapped up by Warner Bros following a 'highly competitive situation'.

The 761st were nicknamed the "Black Panthers" due to their distinctive insignia. Their motto, 'Come out fighting' was also well-known. The battalion received a Presidential Unit Citation for its actions, sharing between them one Medal of Honor, 11 Silver Stars and around 300 Purple Hearts.

Breaking through in The Wire, Jordan’s credits also include Creed and Fruitvale Station, both of which were directed by Black Panther's Ryan Coogler.
