While Batman v Superman may be dominating headlines this week, it's easy to forget that another superhero brawler is hitting cinemas in just over a month: Captain America: Civil War.

The film marks a dark turn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with The First Avenger and Iron Man set to punch it out over the Sokovia Accords. Notably, in the trailers, one of the film’s big deaths is also seemingly revealed, that of Don Cheadle’s War Machine/Rhodey.

The character is seen lying on the floor, mask blown off, and Robert Downey Jnr’s character standing over, looking like he’s going to do some serious damage.

Unfortunately, Cheadle has done nothing to calm down fans who are worried this could be it for the superhero side-kick: “Doesn’t look good for Rhodey,” he told Empire. “He did hit the ground kind of hard!”

Would a film really show a major death in the trailer? Perhaps a major curveball to throw audiences for the meantime? As pointed out in the report, he would be one of the highest-profile casualties of the films so far, rivalling Quicksilver and Coulson (but he’s not actually daed).

In the same interview, Cheadle spoke about taking over as War Machine from Terrence Howard: “It looked different to what it was - that I had moved Terrence Howard out of a seat. But that’s not what happened at all. He was not coming back and there was an open seat and I was asked to fill it.”

In the latest Civil War news, the Russo Brothers explained why the film is a ‘love story’ while also hinting there could be up to three post-credit scenes.
