2018 seems to be the year of Martin Freeman-starring horrors.

After featuring in the Brit chiller Ghost Stories, the star will now lead Netflix‘s new Australian Outback-set zombie flick Cargo, the first Australian film ever to become a Netflix Original.

Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling make their directorial debut, creating a film based on their own short, which landed an incredible 14 million views online. The screenplay was also written by Ramke.

The film follows a father (Freeman) who becomes stranded in rural Australia with only 48 hours to find a new home for his infant daughter, after becoming infected in the wake of a violent pandemic.

It also comes with some serious horror credentials, as it’s produced by The Babadook‘s own producers Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings of Australia’s Causeway Films.

Cargo launches on Netflix 19 May.
