A new biopic about Celine Dion, titled The Power of Love, is in the works.

The film about the Canadian singer is one of the highest-profile French films set for release in 2020, Variety reports. Developed by Gaumont, the film will be directed by Valerie Lemercier, who will also star as Dion.

Dion and her record company have given the rights for the project to use some of her biggest hits, including “All by Myself,” “My Heart Will Go On” and “I’m Alive”.

The Power of Love will trace Dion’s life from her childhood in Quebec in the 1960s to her rise to fame as a teenager, while also depicting her marriage to René Angélil, who also served as her manager and died in 2016.

“I discovered the strength of their love story and their great humor, and I better understood how the alchemy of their three individual ambitions made an unwanted, little girl the greatest star on the planet,” Lemercier said.

The film will mainly be in French, with production set to comment in March for 18 weeks France, Spain, Canada, and Las Vegas.

The project follows the box office success of Bohemian Rhapsody, which focused on Queen and its frontman Freddie Mercury, with the upcoming Rocket Man, featuring Taron Egerton as Elton John, also bringing high expectations.

The film will be released in France on 2 December 2020.
