Coronavirus: Tom Hanks jokes about no longer loving his Corona typewriter in latest update from self-isolation
Actor has at least learnt the correct amount of Vegemite to spread on his toast
Tom Hanks has posted his latest update on social media as he and his wife Rita Wilson continue to self-isolate, after testing positive for coronavirus.
“Hello folks,” he began. “Good news: One week after testing positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs.
“Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: My wife has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points. But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick.”
Hanks was referring to a photo he had shared earlier this week, of a piece of toast with Australian spread Vegemite.
Many fans were horrified at how much Hanks had put on the toast, given the strength of the spread.
Hanks continued: “I travelled here with typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx.”
The typewriter Hanks had apparently brought with him to Australia was a once-popular vintage make: a Corona.
Hanks travelled to Australia to film Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley biopic, in which he will star opposite Austin Butler as the singer’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Filming has since been postponed.
