Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be the focus of a new documentary about his life and footballing career, with the first trailer for Ronaldo released today.

The documentary will follow “a year in the life of the world’s best groomed soccer player” and feature previously unseen footage and interviews with the 30-year-old, his family, friends and teammates.

Filmed over 14 months, Ronaldo will offer fans unprecendented access into the triple Ballon D’Or winner’s inner circle in what has been described as a “moving and fascinating” film.

“You know the name, you know the legend, but you don’t know the man,” layover text reads, before showing glimpses of Ronaldo at home with his young son and following him through injuries, crushing losses, glorious triumphs and his famous rivalry with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

“Some people hate me, some people love me, I was made to be the best, that’s how I live my life,” the Portuguese Real Madrid professional says.

Bafta-winning British director Anthony Wonke is at the helm, while Asif Kapadia, who directed Senna and Amy, is executive producer.

Ronaldo is released in cinemas nationwide on 9 November.
