The firmest evidence that Daniel Craig is stepping away from the James Bond franchise has presented itself in the form of the actor's casting in a new Steven Soderbergh film.

Logan Lucky is the director's first film since he announced he was to retire from filmmaking after releasing Side Effects in 2013.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig will star in a supporting role alongside an ensemble including Channing Tatum, Michael Shannon, Adam Driver and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. The heist comedy will follow Tatum and Shannon's brothers who plan a heist during a NASCAR race.

Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) has also been cast in the caper.

This will be Craig's first film outside of the Bond series since 2011 when he starred in The Adventures of Tintin, Dream House and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Rumours have surrounded Craig's 007 future since the release of Spectre last October. It was recently reported the actor had turned down a two-film deal worth £68 million despite reputable source claiming otherwise.
