Since the Harry Potter franchise ended, Daniel Radcliffe's career has remained fruitful, the actor vocal about wanting to direct with interesting filmmakers as opposed to opting for Hollywood blockbusters.

The actor, though, remains loyal to his career beginnings stating he would one day consider returning to the boy wizard role that propelled him to stardom.

In an interview with The Sun, Radcliffe said: "It is a tricky one. You never want to close a door on anything, especially something that has been so good to me."

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the play currently taking the London West End by storm, features a grown-up version of Potter 19 years on from the climactic events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Earlier on this year, Warner Bros trademarked the play's name leading to rumours that a film version is on the way. Author JK Rowling later shut down these suggestions on Twitter.

"At the moment I am definitely not at a stage where I would feel comfortable going back to it," Radcliffe added. "Who knows in ten and 20 years if I would feel differently about that? I think I have still got a little while for me to be age appropriate for this

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - a prequel spin-off to the franchise - will be released later on this year.

Radcliffe will next be seen in crime drama Imperium (16 September) and 'farting corpse film' Swiss Army Man (30 September).
