Directors Gondry and Tarantino join panels at SXSW

Among 80 panels, conversations with Q&A sessions, and workshops at the film conference portion of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Film, Interactive and Music Festival next month in the US city of Austin, Texas, the schedule of film directors and industry talent lineup has been announced for the event.

Featured guests include director Michel Gondry who will be interviewed about The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen, Christoph Waltz, and Cameron Diaz; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; and his entire filmography.

Quentin Tarantino, director of Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill among other films, will attend a panel "Directing the Dead: Genre Directors Spill Their Guts" with Ruben Fleischer ( Zombieland), Eli Roth ( Hostel), and others.

In addition, the sessions will cover topics such as new technologies, sustainable filmmaking, 3D techniques, the new economics, and how-to workshops - from legal to distribution, as well as mentorship programs with special guests guiding attendees in all aspects of filmmaking. A sample of some of the schedule includes:

• How to Create a Viral Video - with Jason Wishnow, a TED participant
• New Media Production using the latest in Online Tools
• Offering Your Content in 100 Languages
• Creating a Graphic Novel Hollywood Will Buy

Directors of films screening will also speak, such as Matthew Vaughn about the opening film, Kick-Ass, and Academy Award-winning Argentinean composer and producer Gustavo Santaolalla, who has scored Babel and Brokeback Mountain.

The SXSW film festival and conference runs March 12-20 with panels March 12-16 in Austin, Texas.
