Spider-Man: Homecoming to be scored by Doctor Strange composer Michael Giacchino

Giacchino previously worked on The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Zootopia, and Star Trek

Marvel’s attempt to enter the world of the weird with Doctor Strange has paid off hugely, the film topping the international box office and debuting to a $85 million weekend in the US.

One of the film’s many aspects that critics noted as particularly good was the score, composed by Michael Giacchino who previously worked on The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Zootopia, and Star Trek.

While on the press trail for the film, Marvel President Kevin Feige let slip Giacchino may be composing the score to the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Giacchino has since confirmed the news, writing on Twitter that the “rumour is true” and he will be working on the Tom Holland starring superhero film.

Before then, however, Giacchino has several other projects set for release. Notably, the soundtracks to Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry, and War for the Planet of the Apes.

Meanwhile, in other Spider-Man news, Sony bosses confirmed that a non-Marvel Studios related spin-off is still in the works and is likely to centre around the villain venom.
