Dune: Oscar Isaac to play Timothée Chalamet's father in cult classic reboot
Villeneuve’s film will offer a second adaptation of Frank Herbert’s famous sci-fi novel, following David Lynch’s 1984 film
Oscar Isaac has joined Denis Villeneuve‘s new adaptation of Dune.
The actor, who already has his own connection to the world of sci-fi, thanks to his role as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise, will play Duke Leto Atreides, according to Variety.
Villeneuve’s film will offer a second adaptation of Frank Herbert’s famous sci-fi novel, following David Lynch’s 1984 film starring Kyle MacLachlan and Patrick Stewart. Filming is set to take place in Budapest and Jordan this spring.
Isaac’s character is the father to the book’s protagonist, Paul Atreides, set to be played by Timothée Chalamet, whose noble family accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis, an inhospitable wasteland that is also the only source of a rare drug known as “spice”, only to be betrayed by the galactic empire.
The film is also set to star Charlotte Rampling, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard.
