Henry Cavill could be about to go from Superman to err, Super Kinky Man if rumours that he is joining the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise turn out to be true.

The British actor has teased a possible part in upcoming sequel Fifty Shades Darker by refusing to stamp out speculation.

"How can I make this interesting? It's best I say nothing for now," he said cheekily, and annoyingly, after ET Online put the big question to him at The Man from U.N.C.L.E press junket.

So, while Cavill will be reprising his role as Clark Kent's superhero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, whether or not he'll be playing Anastasia Steele's stalker boss Jack Hyde in the next trip to the Red Room is sadly still unconfirmed.

Sigh. But our hopes are certainly high ladies, after Cavill added that he's "not allowed to say anything at this time", which is miles away from a deadpan "no". Right?

Fifty Shades Darker is not due in cinemas until February 2017, with Fifty Shades Freed following in 2018, so there’s plenty of time for Cavill to be convinced, if he hasn't been already, to join Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson for a spot of BDSM.

Somebody send cold water.
