George Lucas hasn't seen the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will continue 30 years after the events of 1983 film Return of the Jedi

Despite the fact that the trailer for J.J. Abrams’ film Star Wars: The Force Awakens is on track to be the most watched online preview of all time, a few people still haven’t seen it: including one Mr George Lucas.

The original Star Wars creator told the New York Post’s gossip section Page Six: "I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet."

When asked Lucas why this was he said: "Because it’s not in the movie theatre. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there."

Star Wars fans have speculated over Lucas’ apparent disinterest in the new film, fuelled by his reply of "not really" when asked whether he was curious to see what Abrams had done with it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will continue approximately 30 years after the events of 1983 film Return of the Jedi.

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill and Peter Mayhew are all returning to reprise their presumably older original characters, with Disney and Lucasfilm confirming that the film will feature "a trio of new young leads". Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver and John Boyega are also confirmed.

The film is due to be released in the UK on 18 December 2015.
