Golden Globes 2016: Aziz Ansari had a hilarious and elaborate response prepared for his loss

If you don't win an award, this is the way to react

Aziz Ansari may not have won a Golden Globe last night, but he still managed to steal the show.

The comedian, nominated for his Netflix series Master of None, lost out to Gael Garcia Bernal who scooped the Best Actor in a Television Comedy award for his performance in Amazon Prime series Mozart in the Jungle - which also went on to win Best Comedy Series.

Ansari didn't expect to win, however; as the list of nominees were read out, the camera cut to the former Parks and Recreation actor who had his head buried in a self-help book titled, Losing To Jeffrey Tambor With Dignity.

That reigning champ Tambor - nominated for his role as the transgender Maura Pfefferman in Transparent - didn't go on to win was a shock for all, most of all the eventual winner himself, Mexican actor Bernal.

Based on oboist Blair Tindall's 2005 memoir Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs and Classical Music, Bernal stars in the Amazon TV series as conductor Rodrigo De Souza alongside Lola Kirke, Saffron Burrows and Malcolm McDowell. The series' double win follows Transparent's victory in the same categories last year, making Amazon the first network in a decade to win back-to-back for two different shows.

Shame there wasn't an award for 'Best Cutaway Of The Night'; Ansari would have bagged it.
