Last night’s Golden Globes provided lots of surprises, a few wins that were always sure things, and at least one very funny Titanic joke .
There was also a generally even spread of winners, with most of the year’s heavy hitters (bar Little Women , embarrassingly) all taking home at least one award.
Warm speeches from Brad Pitt , Renee Zellweger and an adorably verklempt Tom Hanks proved the continued power of bonafide stars, while Ramy Youssef and Awkwafina provided fresh blood among a sea of movie veterans.
British representation was plentiful, with Fleabag and Succession , from UK writer Jesse Armstrong, dominating the TV awards, along with wins for stars including Olivia Colman , Sam Mendes , Elton John and Taron Egerton .
