It's difficult to name a favourite Home Alone moment. Whichever you pick, though, it's extremely probable it will feature in the film's climactic showdown between Kevin McAllister (Macauley Culkin) and the Wet Bandit robbers attempting to capture him (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern).

Continually outwitted by Kevin, the set-piece sees the bumbling duo stumble upon trap after trap laid out by the boy who is left behind by his holidaying family at Christmas time.

It's 20 minutes of pure slapstick wonder that reaches a climax when Kevin places his brother's tarantula on Marv's face leading to the below gem:

Stern has now re-enacted the moment upon finding a hefty-sized spider in his garage. Trapping the arachnid in a bucket, he shows it to the camera before delivering the moment that has stayed in viewers' minds for 26 years.

It might not be a patch on his original effort, but it made us smile all the same.

The 58-year-old actor reprised the role of Marv for 1992 sequel Lost in New York as well as a witty YouTube clip last year which served as a direct response to a previous one posted by Culkin in character as Kevin.

Stern has most recently appeared in the acclaimed US series Manhattan.
