Horror icons uniting for Expendables-style Death House

It's basically Freddy vs Jason vs Danny Trejo.

Cinema's horror icons are coming together for a kind of Expendables-style flick, entitled Death House. Because The ExpandaBOOs was not, apparently, a strong enough fit. For some inexplicable reason.

Joining forces are Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street), Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th), Doug Bradley (Pinhead in Hellraiser), Bill Moseley (Otis in House of 1,000 Corpses), Michael Berryman (Pluto in The Hills Have Eyes), Dee Wallace (The Hills Have Eyes), Barbara Crampton (Chopping Mall), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), Don Shanks (Halloween 5), and Camille Keaton (I Spit On Your Grave).

And... Danny Trejo. Now, Trejo doesn't obviously fit the mould of horror icon, more associated as he is with the likes of Con Air and Machete than with his horror outputs. His roles in From Dusk till Dawn, Planet Terror, and The Devil's Rejects certainly qualify, but considering the mere quantity of projects Trejo's been involved in, a little horror seems like an inevitable inclusion. Not that anyone's complaining about his presence here. Every film on the planet could benefit from a little Trejo, surely.

The plot synopsis (via NME) says, "The Death House is the Area 51 of Evil… a subterranean government facility that holds humanity's worst on nine levels. Hell, Dante's ninth level, holds the Five Evils… the 'dark stars' of Death House. These individuals are so heinous they can never walk among society again. They may also be supernatural."

"Events culminate in a violent face-to-face standoff with absolute evil… only to find that they have traveled down a rabbit hole and through a looking glass. Black is white and white is black and the definitions of good and evil no longer apply. Who are the monsters? Who will escape?"

Sounds like an even more twisted take on Suicide Squad. Camp Dread's Harrison Smith directs, with the first draft penned by Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, though he sadly passed away in November last year.

Death House is set for release in 2017.
