The latest adaptation of Stephen King’s It has set box-office records around the world, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated horror of all time.
As with everything successful, there’s someone out there trying to ruin the party. Somewhat surprisingly, though, the people trying to stop It aren’t a rival film company.
Burger King’s Russian division has filled an official government complaint to the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) demanding the film be removed from cinemas,
Why? Because the terrifying villainous clown Pennywise apparently looks like Ronald McDonald, the avatar for rival fast-food chain McDonald's.

"We can't be concerned with the content of the film because the writer and director have their own creative understanding of any character,” a spokesperson for FAS told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about the case.
They added that the agency will determine whether the horror film contains any advertising or product placement. Perhaps some of the misunderstanding comes from the Youtube video It – McDonald's Edition, featuring Ronald in place of Pennywise.
With the case having no frame for consideration, It remains in more than 100 Russian cinemas. Since being released on the 7 September, the film has grossed £10.4 million in the country.
