IT Trailer 2

For those of you who are suffering sleepless nights ever since having seen new Stephen King adaptation It, the experience could have been worse - news has surfaced of a “disturbing” flashback scene that never made it into the final cut.

Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård has revealed how director Andres Muschetti decided to leave the scene out of the film which is currently breaking box office records around the world.

Speaking to Variety, Skarsgård said: “There was a scene we shot that was a flashback from the 1600s, before Pennywise [was Pennywise].The scene turned out really, really disturbing. And I’m not the clown. I look more like myself.”

“It’s... sort of a backstory for what It is, or where Pennywise came from,” the actor added.

“That might be something worth exploring in the second one. The idea is the IT entity was dormant for thousands and thousands of years. The [flashback] scene hints on that.”

It: Chapter Two, prophesied by the first film's 'Chapter One' closing title card, will likely follow the time jump in Stephen King's book, seeing the Losers' Club return to Derry, Maine 27 years later.
