Actor and musician Jared Leto only just found out about the coronavirus considering he has been staying in a silent meditation retreat without access to the internet.

The Suicide Squad actor tweeted to his followers: “Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc.

“We had no idea what was happening outside the facility.

“Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind blowing – to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on.

“Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all.

“Stay inside. Stay safe.”

Fans poked fun at the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman on social media.

One wrote: “Ready for another 15 days of isolation?”

Another said: “Go back to the desert”.

“Not gonna lie sounds a bit pretentious but glad you’re checking up on the sick and dying........” added one more.

A number of celebrities have been diagnosed with coronavirus, including Idris Elba, Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson.

In a public announcement, Hanks explained their symptoms: “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too”.

Elba urged others to take necessary precautions, telling them: “This is serious. Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands... Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it.

“So now’s the real time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance, OK?”
