Jason Momoa proves why he's qualified to be Aquaman

Aquaman is more than just the guy with the trident.

As any comic book fan will tell you, the DC character also has a host of special aquatic skills, most intriguing among them the ability to command all sea-life.

And while Jason Momoa, who stars as Aquaman in his first solo adventure, may have all the bravado and charisma needed to fit the role of superhero, The Independent decided to test him on his fish-spotting skills to see if he really had what it takes to rule the oceans.

Don't fret, he passed with flying colours.

Aquaman, directed by The Conjuring's James Wan, is the character's third time on screen, following a brief introduction in Batman v Superman and a role in last year's Justice League.

Here, he takes centre stage, as he finds himself caught between two worlds. As the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, it's down to him to step forward and prevent his half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), from waging war against the surface world.

Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also star.

Aquaman is released in UK cinemas on 12 December.
