John Travolta has shared a moving tribute to his late wife Kelly Preston, marking what would have been her 58th brithday.

Travolta shared a photo of his parents’ wedding on his Instagram account, side by side with an image of his 1991 wedding to Preston.

“Happy Birthday hon!” he wrote in the caption, addressing Preston. “I found this photo of my mom and dad‘s wedding. It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John.”

Preston died on 12 July this year aged 57, two years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She would have turned 59 this 13 October.

Travolta announced her passing on social media, writing: “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”

He thanked the medical personnel who cared for Preston and added: “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”

Preston, who won acclaim for her roles in films such as Twins and Jerry Maguire, was survived by Travolta as well as two of their children.
