The supernatural romance, which stars Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) and Michael Stahl-Davis, tells the story of an ex-convict and a doctor’s wife who discover they share a mysterious metaphysical connection.

The film follows Whedon’s 2013 indie release Much Ado About Nothing, which was filmed in his own home in California over 12 days.

In Your Eyes is the second film from his ‘micro studio’ Bellwether Pictures, and will be made available to rent on Vimeo’s video streaming service for $5 (£3).

The Avengers director and Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator announced the film would be made available to stream over the internet last week.

“It’s exciting for us because we get to explore yet another new form of distribution and we get $5,” he said.

Fans who have already left reviews of In Your Eyes on Vimeo’s site have called it “supremely sad, fabulously funny and terrifyingly tender” with a script that is “executed beautifully”.
