Joss Whedon’s new US election video takes aim at Congress

Joss Whedon managed to reach millions of Americans when he assembled ‘a shit ton of celebrities’ and got them to encourage people to vote in September, and this week he’s back with another video for the Save the Day initiative.

‘If congress was your co-worker’ isn’t as star-studded, but does see Chris Pine play the petulant colleague, who blocks his company’s decisions at every turn and yet his boss and peers are powerless to do anything about it.

“This November 8th…Remember who’s boss,” the video concludes, in an attempt to empower the voter.

Save The Day describes itself as a “short-form digital production company dedicated to the idea that voting is a necessary and heroic act. That every voice in this wonderfully diverse nation should, and must, be heard. That the only thing that can save democracy is the act that defines it.

“We are committed to fighting the apathy, cynicism, and honest confusion that keeps citizens from using their vote,” it continues. “And to reminding an increasingly out-of-touch and compromised set of representative that they are answerable to the people they were hired to serve."
