Shooting for a sequel to last year's hit spy spoof Kingsman: The Secret Service has been confirmed to start next April.

Clashes in lead actor Taron Egerton's schedule threatened to delay the second movie, but his next film Robin Hood: Origins has since been pushed back to summer 2016 so that the 25-year-old can star in both, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

Earlier reports suggested that Egerton was contracted for a sequel, meaning 20th Century Fox had the right to take him when they needed him regardless of his other commitments.

Jennifer Lawrence encountered similar problems while filming X-Men: First Class and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire but a compromise was reached.

Matthew Vaughn is still busy writing the script for the as-yet-untitled Kingsman follow-up, but it remains unknown whether he will return as director or if another will sign on.

The first Kingsman movie followed Firth's suave secret agent Harry Hart and his street kid protégé Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin (Egerton) as they battled against Samuel L Jackson's villain to stop him from destroying humanity.

It grossed more then £400 million at the global box office and was a huge hit in South Korea, where it earned more than $45 million.
