Liam Neeson will star in a new action thriller in which he plays an expert assassin “with a reputation for discreet precision”, it has been reported.

According to Deadline, Memory, based on the 2003 Dutch film The Memory of a Killer, has been sold to Telepool in a seven-figure deal.

Neeson will star as a hitman who becomes a target himself, after refusing to complete a job for a dangerous criminal organisation, and must hunt down the people who want him dead.

The movie will be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), with a screenplay by Dario Scardapane (The Bridge). Filming is scheduled to begin in August.

Neeson’s next film, the crime thriller Honest Thief, is scheduled for release in September this year.

In 2019, he starred in the action thriller Cold Pursuit, Men in Black: International, and Ordinary Love. He also had a voice role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
