Life trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds space film looks very Alien
Sony has released the first trailer for Life, and whaddya know, aliens turn out to be jerks again.
It says a lot about the world and its foreign policies that movies in which humans encounter extraterrestrial life always end in violence.
Life builds on Nasa’s current exploration of Mars, but instead of discovering simple, microbial life, a team aboard the ISS discover something much more homicidal.
Official synopsis:
Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.
It looks like Alien in a lot of ways, but with more of a survivalist emphasis a la Gravity.
The movie re-teams Reynolds with his Safe House director Daniel Espinosa, while the screenplay comes from Deadpool and Zombieland’s Rhett Reese.
Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare, and Olga Dihovichnaya co-star in Life, which will be released on 26 May, 2017/
