Live By Night trailer: Ben Affleck directs and stars in first film since Oscar-winning Argo
The film is an adaptation of Shutter Island author Dennis Lehane's period crime novel
Ben Affleck has been a busy man since his 2012 film Argo won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2013.
Since then, he was announced as the latest incarnation of Batman having already made an appearance in two films: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and a fleeting cameo in Suicide Squad. In addition to this, he's currently filming DC superhero mashup Justice League and will direct and star in a standalone film of the caped crusader.
Before all of this, though, Affleck wrote and directed Live By Night, adapting Shutter Island author Dennis Lehane's period crime novel; a trailer has just been released.
Affleck himself stars as Joe Coughlin, the respectable son of a prominent Boston (of course) police chief who slowly becomes embroiled in the city's murky underworld.
Live By Night boasts an all-star cast including Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Messina and Sienna Miller while Zoe Saldana, Chris Cooper and Scott Eastwood also star. There's even an appearance from Robert Glenister who you'll best remember as Ash in BBC series Hustle.
Affleck's previous films as director include Gone Baby Gone and The Town. Prior to his upcoming appearances as Batman, he will star in The Accountant - released 4 November 2016 and will steer a remake of Agatha Christie novel Witness for the Prosecution.
Live By Night is released in the UK on 13 January 2017.
