Matt Damon film The Great Wall casually drops eight-minute trailer
The trailer realises the action-adventure film's epic scope
You can watch almost nine minutes of upcoming action-adventure epic The Great Wall thanks to the release of a brand new international trailer.
Interestingly, it seems that the film won't lean too heavily on actor Matt Damon who found himself at the centre of a "whitewashing" backlash following the release of the initial teaser.
If this extended trailer of the Hollywood monster film is anything to go by, it seems the claims are unjust: the film from director Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers) seems to be an ensemble of the highest order with the film's Asian cast just as fervent a presence as the Jason Bourne star.
The film's plot sees Damon's British warrior encounter the hurried construction of the Great Wall of China before realising that its purpose is to keep something out; quite exactly what that 'something' is can be glimpsed in the trailer.
Hollywood has faced a 'whitewashing' backlash quite heavily this year with Tilda Swinton's Ancient One in Doctor Strange and Scarlett Johansson's casting in Ghost in the Shell both coming under fire.
The Great Wall - which also stars Willem Dafoe and Narcos actor Pedro Pascal - will be released in the UK on 17 February 2017
