Michael Bay - best known for the Transformer films, Bad Boys, and Pearl Harbour - will reportedly produce a dystopian film featuring a Donald Trump-like President.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has picked up the rights to Little America after a ‘heated bidding war’.

Rowan Athale - who wrote and directed the 2012 film The Rise (AKA Wasteland) - penned the script and will direct.

Sources told the aforementioned publication the flick will be a “sci-fun” story rather than “sci-fi,” telling of how focussing on how Americans are moving to China after the Trump-like President bankrupted their home country.

The description continues: “In this new world, a former American Force Recon member is hired by a Chinese billionaire to go into an American ghetto and rescue his daughter. Sources have said it is in the tone of Escape From New York, the 1981 John Carpenter film that starred Kurt Russell.”

Previously, Bay and his Platinum Dunes have worked on the dystopian Purge series, in which a wealthy American elite allowed the general public one day a year to commit atrocious crimes without any repercussions.

Recently, Bay caused controversy when filming Transformers: The Last Night when the set designers draped Sir Winston Churchill’s home with Nazi iconography.
