Michael Bay lands 'Untitled Cocaine Project'

That's a no nonsense temporary title if ever I saw one

Transformers director Michael Bay has landed a TV series at TNT with the working title 'Untitled Cocaine Project', which if there's any justice will also be the actual title.

The network has ordered a pilot from fearsome producing duo Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer, which according to Entertainment Weekly will be "a serialized character drama that brings the audience into the captivating, wild and unpredictable world of the Florida drug trade in the 1970s".

The series was originally lined up for HBO and is based on a 2006 documentary called Cocaine Cowboys, with Masters of Sex's Michelle Ashford attached to write the pilot.

'Untitled Cocaine Project' could serve as a sort of unofficial prequel to the Transformers films in a way, an explosion-filled franchise which feels fuelled with about 20 tons of the stuff.

Bruckheimer and Bay previously teamed up for Bad Boys and Armageddon, with Bay most recently executive producing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

He also has a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds in the works.
