Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail has sold his script for Sequels, Remakes and Adaptation, which appeared on 2008’s Blacklist of hot, unproduced screenplays alongside Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds.

The premise is an intriguing one (via Deadline):

‘A young man is told by an angel that all humans on earth are given 500,000 chances to live a complete and fulfilled life, but finds out that he’s already used up all but his last chance to finally get it right.’

This could star someone like Liam Hemsworth, get all sentimental about making your mark on the world, and be terrible, but given the tone of Mr. Robot, I’m sure Esmail won’t go in that direction.

In fact, according to people who have read the screenplay, it’s refreshingly dark and doesn’t “spin around and give you a big happy smiley ending”.

STX picked up the film, which is likely to be big and attract a strong cast given the success of Mr. Robot.

The multi-award-winning show, about a young computer programmer who suffers from social anxiety disorder and forms connections through hacking, is back for a second season this summer.
