Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts has signed on to play Diana, Princess of Wales, in "Caught in Flight", a film based on the last two years of her life.

The star, who was born in Kent but moved to Australia as a teenager, said it was "such an honour to be able to play this iconic role".

The movie will follow Diana's romance with surgeon Hasnat Khan.
