David Lynch-produced documentary coming to Netflix
'I feel like I'm in a David Lynch movie'
Netflix has just picked up a new documentary executive produced by legendary surrealist David Lynch.
My Beautiful Broken Brain follows the extraordinary sensory experiences of Dutch-French filmmaker Lotje Sodderland - who's also co-director - as she recovers from a hemorrhagic stroke.
Sodderland, who says she feels as though she's in a David Lynch movie, got in touch with the eccentric director to tell him her story; Now he's exec producing.
Lynch, who is currently working on the Twin Peaks revival, said in a statement: "The brain is truly fascinating and much in the way that our brains are able to achieve total coherence — finding enlightenment and fulfillment, you will surely be moved and inspired by this journey of self-rediscovery."
From the promotional video, the documentary looks like a clash of classic comeback story and the 'waking dream' surrealism for which Lynch is famous.
The filmwill debut on Netflix on March 18, after screening at the SXSW festival.
It's the latest in a string of docs released by the streaming giant, following the buzzy Making a Murderer series and the Alex Gibney film Cooked, which will land later this year.
