The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent: Nicolas Cage film about Nicolas Cage gets 2021 release date
Film stars Cage as a fictionalised version of himself as he tries to deal with mounting debt from making too many low-budget films
A release date has been announced for a new film starring Nicholas Cage, in which the actor stars as a fictionalised version of himself.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate has set a March 2021 release date for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
The meta-action comedy will be directed by Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment) and is based off a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten (Ghosted). Kevin Turen will produce.
In the film, Cage talks to an egotistical Nineties version of himself, who mocks his future self for not being famous as well as for making too many low-budget films.
Facing a considerable amount of debt, the fictionalised Cage accepts a $1m offer to attend a superfan’s birthday. That superfan just happens to be a Mexican drug cartel member.
When things take a turn for the worse, Cage must channel his former on-screen characters in order to save himself and his teenage daughter.
