Nicolas Cage is totally Nicolas Cage in trailer for new Elijah Wood film The Trust

The 'Nicolas Cage Losing his Sh*t' supercut has just been gifted with some major additional material

Sure, everyone's very excited for bad cops Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in The Nice Guys; but, really, has there ever been a pairing more inexplicably sublime than Elijah Wood and Nicolas Cage?

No; the answer is no. And The Trust is the dream team you never knew you so desperately needed. Cage and Wood play lowly cops who accidentally stumble across a hidden safe at the back of a convenience store during a routine investigation; what's the obvious course of action?

To turn criminal, and attempt to break into the safe themselves without even knowing what's hidden inside. Granted, these are not smart people we're dealing with here.

But, oh, are we here for it. We're here for Cage's terrible German skills. We're here for the line, "We're in the heart of the American dream". We're here even for just the moustache.

Sure, it's a little difficult to judge where exactly between comedy and gritty action piece this film is aiming for in its tone; but there's some serious Rage Cage-mode promises being made, so let's hope the actor actually gets to go as loose and wild as he did back during the 2009 Bad Lieutenant movie.

The film also stars Jerry Lewis and Sky Ferreira, and is directed by duo Benjamin Brewer and Alex Brewer.

The Trust hits UK cinemas 27 May.
