Billie Eilish’s ‘No Time to Die’ music video could hint at James Bond plot twist

Next 007 outing is released in cinemas next month

The music video has been released for Billie Eilish’s James Bond theme song, and fans are already combing through the footage for clues about the forthcoming film.

“No Time to Die” was first released as a single back in February, ahead of the release of the Bond film of the same name.

Speculation has been especially focused on the role Léa Seydoux’s character might play, with the suggestion arising that she will betray and endanger Daniel Craig’s spy over the course of the film.

Seydoux, who first played psychologist Madeleine Swann in Spectre (2015), is set to reprise the character in the newest 007 outing.

In the “No Time to Die” music video, footage of Swann can be seen while Eilish sings lyrics that seem to imply duplicity.

“Was I stupid to love you? Was I reckless to help?” Eilish sings, while images of Bond and Swann flash on the screen. “Was it obvious to everybody else that I’d fallen for a lie?”

“You were never on my side… Fool me once, fool me twice, are you death or paradise?” continue the lyrics, which are juxtaposed with an image of Swann sobbing as she leaves Bond behind on a train. 

Eilish, who wrote the song with her brother and frequent collaborator Finneas O’Connell, was given a look at the first 20 pages of the script before writing the song.

Other promotional material has also hinted at a potential betrayal by Swann, with the latest trailer containing the line, “when her secret gets out, it’ll be the death of him”, while an image of Seadoux’s character shows on-screen.

No Time to Die is set to be released in the UK on 12 November 2020, having been pushed back since April due to the coronavirus pandemic.
