Billie Eilish reacts to Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph singing at the Oscars

Billie Eilish didn’t quite know how to react to Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig’s skit at last night’s Oscars.

The comedy double act, who rose to fame on Saturday Night Live before starring together in 2011’s Bridesmaids, are always a highlight of awards season. Last night was no different, as the pair presented the awards for Best Costume Design (which went to Jacqueline Durran for Little Women) and Best Production Design (which went to Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood's Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh).

After putting their “acting” skills on display by going through a range of over-the-top emotions, they decided to show off their singing with a medley of songs.

As the camera cut to the A-listers in the crowd, most of whom were laughing, it lingered on 17-year-old pop musician Billie Eilish, whose perplexed expression stood out.

Eilish’s expressive face quickly caused a stir on Twitter, with one user nominating her for the Academy Award “for best reaction of the year”.

Later in the evening, Eilish performed a cover of The Beatles’ “Yesterday” for the annual In Memoriam segment. Earlier this year, it was revealed that she will be doing the theme song for the forthcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die.

South Korean black comedy Parasite was the evening's biggest winner, making history by becoming the first ever foreign language film to win Best Picture.

Other winners at the 2020 ceremony included Brad Pitt, who delivered an emotional acceptance speech that saw him praise Leonardo DiCaprio and criticise the verdict of Trump's impeachment trial, while Laura Dern took home the prize for Best Supporting Actress.

As expected, Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor for Joker following which he criticised inequality and paid tribute to his brother River Phoenix, who died in 1993.

Meanwhile, Olivia Colman had the audience in stitches before presenting Phoenix with his award.
