Raven delivery trial launches in the UK
While Amazon’s Drones might be a forward-looking concept for delivering packages, a new method harks back to a simpler time: mail by raven.
It might sound like something out of Game of Thrones or a Wes Anderson movie (if the item being delivered was a severed head or an antique wind instrument, respectively) but it’s actually been arranged for the home release of Allegiant.
eOne are delivering the DVDs of select customers who have pre-ordered them in Central London by raven, with a view to expanding the delivery method.
Setting off from the Tower of London, the ravens are inspired by the tattoo symbol of Allegiant’s protagonist Tris (the idea is inspired by it, I mean, the ravens probably haven’t seen the film).
“As companies examine the feasibility of drone delivery, we decided to use the Allegiant raven tattoo as inspiration for a new take on the idea,” said eOne Senior Product Manager Jeff Suter.
“It is incredible to see the ravens take flight, although until we undertake further testing of the concept I’d recommend customers wanting a copy of the film quickly go through the usual retailers.”
