Police release video of Rick Moranis being punched in New York and offer $2500 reward

A suspect has been arrested after actor Rick Moranis was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack in New York.

The Honey I Shrunk the Kids star, also known for his role in the original Ghostbusters films, was attacked on Thursday 1 October while walking near his apartment building on the Upper West Side in Manhattan.

A surveillance clip showed a man passing Moranis on the street and suddenly punching him, knocking the actor to the ground.

Moranis, 67, took himself to hospital in the wake of the attack, where he was treated for pain in his head, back and right hip, police have confirmed.

The NYPD referred to the attack as “random” and “unprovoked”.

The New York Post is now reporting that a suspect has been arrested.

According to the publication, a 35-year-old man was being held in Central Booking on Saturday night (14 November).

No name has been given, but he was described as a Manhattan resident with a history of 13 arrests, including five for felonies.
